My Supports
In this context, the word “support” is a verb and it’s definition is: to give help to someone (online, Merriam). I am a mature empty-nestor who desires to live a purposeful life, full of meaning, love and joy and I am so grateful for my supports.

My Personal Supports
My Personal supports include my two adult children who check on me every week and my two cats who are dedicated companions. All of them give me much peace, love and joy and without them, I would not be able to continue to exist.

Periodically, I love to get out my apartment and window shop with my daughter. We also like to do other girlie things together and during this recent inclement weather, I’ve been going to her house to read, rest, relax and prepare to do my schoolwork. Like a good son, he still comes over and empties the trash. He also cleans my car and he likes to cook a hot, home-cooked meal with me in the kitchen from time to time. My two cats also give me so much companionship and they require so little in return. I really enjoy their company.
My Financial Supports
My work as an educator/director and a residential advisor for a private school not only support me financially, they also give me a great sense of security and without them, I would not be able to pursue my graduate degree and travel.

My Meaningful Supports
Lastly, the children I serve during the week are my passion. They support my sense of fulfillment by giving me the opportunity to give back to my community. I absolutely love going into the classroom to play with the preschool children during the day, supervise primary-age activities in the residential department in the evenings and pursue my online graduate degree in Early Childhood Studies, after they fall asleep. My graduate studies gives me a renewed sense of awareness of the children I serve and their developmental needs. I also feel I’m making a mark on the future by nurturing and serving the children I serve and without them, I  would not have a sense of purpose or a feeling of being useful. I LOVE MY WORK!
